Tilburg's Dutch Brown -- very pleasant amber/brown beer that is serious session material. And dirt-cheap.
-- Andrew Ager Brooklyn
I just discovered Tilburg's Dutch Brown Ale and am working onthe last of my case of Red Hook Nut Brown. Neither is world-class, butI dig the browns, and Tilburg's is lovely.
-- Chris
Deelish. Honestly picked it up because it was Dutch, and had an insane drawing on the label. Good stuff!

Found this between the Red Stripe Lager and the Victory Hop-Devil IPA at the local beverage distributor. Brown ale from Nederland? With Bosch art??! I had to have it. I have about 30 people at my university buying this as their regular session beer. This brew is duggan like what!
-- Kyle: Albany, NY     12/24/2004 11:58:54 PM

-- jeevsaghm     8/1/2005 3:44:25 AM
Being a brown ale fan for a long time, I have not come across one with such a supurb flavor as Tilburg's. It offers everthing that I don't find in most brown ales. Well done!
-- Adam     9/1/2005 10:29:14 PM
You have a good beer. Yet I notice that you are in the highest price area, and furnish only 11.2 ounces rather than 12 ounces per bottle. Why???? Please advise wmcr@comcast.net
-- William Craig     1/15/2005 2:53:43 AM
I lived in Tilburg for a semester and never saw this beer. I asked all my friends from there and they have never heard of it either. Great Dutch beer that doesn't seem Dutch at all.
-- Tucker     11/2/2005 2:22:33 AM

-- Robert OSU 92'     2/26/2005 4:06:37 AM
Great beer! The label must have inspired Mike Meyers -- ("Wayne's World" -"sh'a right, and monkeys (birds?) could come flying out of my butt!"
-- Kerry Johnson     2/27/2005 8:40:39 PM

-- Jan Haans     5/30/2005 6:54:46 PM
Sweet and chocolatey. Very smooth, very Belgian in character (I notice you are close to the border). Reminds me of some of the Belgian Celis ales that were once produced here in Texas, dopple ale being my favorite...
-- jim in austin     6/15/2005 12:42:41 AM
Love the beer, sweet and creamy! Have to admit I bought it for the label but now I will buy it for the beer.
-- Kelly-North Carolina     6/17/2005 12:27:45 AM

Love Brown Ale's and the label caught my eye but the taste will bring me back. Don't change the label but if you must - choose the one of the nakid guy on the Griffin - my vote.
-- Steveo - Plano, Tx.     8/13/2005 1:03:00 AM
Proud to be from Tilburg, and now drinking this great beer in Michigan! Almost getting homesick... It was fun to visit Koningshoeven last year! Keep the beers coming.
-- Utanja     8/16/2005 2:37:03 PM
Fantastic Brown Ale!!! Smooth and creamy, without the heavy finish. Malty, but not too thick on the tongue. Definitely my new favorite brown....
-- David - Austin, TX     8/18/2005 4:39:40 AM
Holy, This is a beer a have never tasted before. Fantastic!!! Is it possible to set up some imports for South Africa?
-- Marco From Johannesburg     8/31/2005 12:12:29 AM
From the trips to the Netherlands that I have done, I knew that there was a lot more to Dutch Beer than just lager. Thanks for bringing a very good example of a Dutch Brown Ale to the USA.
-- Rob Price     4/9/2005 3:44:46 AM
I tend to purchase beers of quality, ones that are truly appreciated when consumed. While viewing the beer selection in our local store, I ran across Tilburg's...a smile is now found on my face.
-- Christopher D Peterson     9/26/2005 7:55:09 PM
Well, since Tilburg is my hometown, I decided to take a 6pack home.... that was a mistake, now I can't wait 'till the regular 24botlle krat comes available.....
-- Timo     9/27/2005 7:47:51 PM
For those that are Brown Ale fans, this is the best.
-- James CT     5/10/2005 5:38:47 PM
We are in an american college and find Tilburgs's to really quench our thurst for a dark ale soda ...if u know what I mean !!!
-- Paul and Matt     7/10/2005 2:47:16 AM
I sell this beer to one account and cannot keep it on the shelf. I'd love to have a couple of T-shirts to pass out to those who buy it!
-- Dennis Columbia, SC     10/19/2005 1:09:44 AM
Best dark beer ever
-- Zane Charlotte, NC     10/21/2005 7:07:48 AM
This is a classic beer. Rich, dark, toasty-sweet, and highly recommended for any lover of the brown ale style. Please, please, please get some merchandise so that I can proudly display my love of all things Tilburg. Thank you!
-- Billee D. -- Odenton, MD     10/25/2005 10:48:40 PM
Marco, maybe Bavaria Breweries SA in Joh- burg can do something for you, I know the managing director, he is true ale lover, good luck!
-- Bruce     10/26/2005 8:31:47 PM
Wonderful selection of hops and malt, would like to try the hops in my next batch of home brew.
-- Russ MPLS. MN.     3/11/2005 3:08:27 AM
Dude... that label is some fucked up shit, but I love it. The beer rocks.
-- Andrew      12/14/2005 2:53:37 AM
I found your beer one day at my local liquor store. I asked the store clerk if he'd ever tried this Dutch Brown Ale. He said no but he's heard? that the Dutch have some good porn, so it should be good. Anyway Since then we've been calling it Dutch Porn Ale. So every time I come in they ask me if I'm after some more of that Dutch Porn Ale. I have to switch around just so they don't think I'm Obsessing. Anyway, it's a wonderful beer, with a very refeshing after taste. I'd drink it every day if they'd let me. P.S. I like the original logo, let's not change it.
-- H-Man MPLS., MN. USA     12/22/2005 3:32:44 AM
Lekker biertje met een ietwat zoetige smaak wat ik graag drink. Had het zomaar van iemand cadeau gekregen. Waren slechts twee flesjes. Wie weet in welke winkels in Tilburg dit te koop is.
-- Jack     11/1/2006 8:58:16 PM
All the positive statements previously submitted have said it all. You have a great tasting brew...smooth, yet with character and substance. Thanks for your talent.
-- Paul Amadio     1/20/2006 1:05:15 AM
This is an unbelievable beverage. Not too sweet, not too dark; even a slightly fruity blossom of flavor. Tilburg's Dutch Browm Ale replaced my favorite beer.
-- Tommy from Memphis     1/20/2006 8:45:01 AM
This is the best beer I have ever tasted. The guy at the liquor store recommended it and I asked him would I be addicted, he looked very seriously at me and said, "of course you will".
-- Luke, Atlanta, Georgia     1/23/2006 3:58:18 PM
Good stuff, as an avowed ale lover, I am very impressed with this brew. It has a very nice sweetness that doesn't push into cloying like other beers. The only complaint is the 333ml bottles, can't we get 355ml (12 oz.) bottles like most other imports? It would make a good thing even better.
-- Tom     1/27/2006 11:25:25 PM
Excellent taste... sweet and hearty at the same time. The label "made me look" at your web site and history.
-- John in Dallas Texas     2/15/2006 3:34:11 PM
I am always on the look out for something different and I thankfully found Tilburg's recently at a local Wichita Falls supermarket (United). Very good taste, sweet, yet not too sweet, bold but not too bold, I'd say, "just right." A very smooth and refreshing beer.
-- Warren     2/18/2006 12:52:42 AM
Made me have sex with a fattie.
-- Efren     2/24/2006 6:15:48 AM
What a great find at my favorite local store. The brown ale is just the right mix without being to complex. Subtle with a nice smooth sweet finish. A quality product that stands out amongst other brewers brown ale offerings. And of course the great label lured me in. Thanks Tilburg!
-- Goose-Tulsa Oklahoma     2/26/2006 9:05:37 PM
VERRRY nice. Full bodied and tasty. Where can I buy it in Canada?
-- IVAN DUFOUR     3/3/2006 11:41:40 PM
The Bosch caught my eye, tried the beer, how can I get a t-shirt, good beer, good art, good night!
-- Cliff     4/3/2006 5:52:59 AM
I just love this treat of a beer! Not everyday you stumble across an excellent brown ale with a great after taste- Drink on!
-- Annie     10/3/2006 2:45:01 AM
I love the ale, now I need a t-shirt and a posterof the label also the painting, why not offer them for sale on the web page. Houston Tx
-- cmeverett     3/25/2006 2:43:16 AM
Awesome Beer, Great label. The birds flying out the butt is a total crack-up. Keep it up!
-- Blake from Lone Oak, TX     3/28/2006 4:50:31 AM
I lucked upon Tilburg's at Vulcan Beverage in Birmingham,Al. The first thing that came to mind was "Dutch ALE? I thought they only made lager." What a delicious surprise! So I looked up your website, read about the brewery, the label and their origins. Very cool and a very good ale that really satisfies.
-- Brian     5/4/2006 12:36:55 PM
First, I was intrigued by the use of Bosch on the label. I have to admit that the strength of the ale lives up to its expectations. Thank you for such a quality brew. I would still like to know the relevence behind the use of Bosch.
-- Michael Cuellar     4/20/2006 3:21:24 AM
Tilburg's ale is the best! Rich in hops and flavor just the way I like. Keep brewin this one... plus the Bosch logo is nasty!
-- Andrew Thacker Esq.     4/20/2006 3:26:52 AM
Eggsalad Baby
-- Chadwick of Memphis     5/16/2006 5:13:58 AM
Bought it for the label, coming back for the ALE of it.
-- Funkman     5/30/2006 6:49:37 PM
excellent Brew, I commend the Brewmaster's. I am a great fan of the "Black Lagers" such as kostrintzer, and was just introduced to your product. Thank you for a wonderful tasting, full bodied Brew. Bill Saint Petersburg, Florida USA
-- Bill Gowacki     2/6/2006 8:58:01 PM
This reminds me of the Dutch beers in the brown cafe's of Amsterdam. Too bad you cannot get the hash here in the states.
-- Buddy     3/6/2006 5:49:47 AM
I recognized the label art immediately, and had to try it. Not only was the label great, the beer inside is quite tasty too. My husband and i have affectionately nicknamed this "Bosch beer" and it's regularly found in our fridge now :)
-- astrida     4/6/2006 1:40:53 AM
I was a fan of Shiner's Bock, then I stumbled onto Newcastle and was impressed. Then I found Tilburg's Dutch Brown; the distinctive taste is superb and undeniably habit forming. I will certainly vouch for that!
-- Jim Wilson     6/21/2006 4:39:46 AM
The restaurant was out of Newcastle so I had to try yours. I'm sold, and will continue drinking and contemplating the label.
-- Steve     7/18/2006 3:41:41 AM
Suprising beer character matches Bosch's art. Superb tradition matches superb quality. After looking at Bosch's complete piece, I recognize the art to be a piece on one of the best black metal bands in the world (Celtic Frost!). Keep rocking!
-- Greg, Maryland USA     7/22/2006 9:24:27 PM
Best Dutch Beer/any beer for the price!!! Makes me want to spend the rest of my life in Tilburg with Tilburg.
-- Jim Morrison     7/23/2006 4:03:03 AM
Great beer, makes me even more fruity than I am! Why is it, that most of the new characters for the label, are in Hell??! Once again, love ya!
-- Mr. Tibbs     12/8/2006 1:20:41 AM
Any beer that would put one of Bosch's creatures from hell on their label is worth trying. For those of you impressed by the label, please visit your local art museum!
-- concreteadam     3/9/2006 5:22:57 AM
A balanced ale, not overdone like most here in the States. Good clean finish. Geweldig!
-- R A Hansen     9/16/2006 5:17:57 AM
What a tasty brown ale! I have found a new friend. Bless you.
-- Bill Van Dusen     1/10/2006 12:35:31 AM
If you have a lady-friend who thinks beer taste's like socks...Tilburg's is the missionary of brews to convert her!
-- Ryan Carpenter     2/10/2006 1:32:36 AM
I was a die-hard New Castle lover, until I was bartending for a private party and the host had this beer bottle with this peculiar looking label. I tried it and have been hooked since, love the flavours and the finish.
-- Hoshiyah,Charlotte N.C.     10/25/2006 6:42:28 AM
very good beer .nice balanced ,good aroma ,taste ,body, color.good job.
-- gennaro schiano     1/11/2006 7:24:58 PM
Bought the beer because of the label. Will keep buying because of the quality and the taste.
-- Rob Dugger     4/11/2006 8:16:37 PM
I was floored by the taste from the start. It's like a good food. Then I happened to notie the label and went to the website and the paintings and I am hooked on your beer, and the beer bottle lable. It's all good.
-- Paul Jefferson     11/11/2006 10:29:24 AM
Fantastic beer. Rivals the Belgians, and that's a hard thing to do.
-- bartron     11/24/2006 4:05:35 AM
My local beer store has over 800 kinds of beer. I have tried most and have a few favorites! However, once I tried TDBA, I have not bought anything else--seriously! I only drink dark beers and ales and now only drink TDBA. Keep it coming!
-- Lloyd     5/12/2006 9:43:36 PM
the extra half ounce? because the metric system, right. or are you guys screwing us out of an extra half ounce for ourself. nonetheless, the beer is great and the label is very nice.
-- psycho dog brew co. McAllen, Tx     8/12/2006 9:34:16 PM
Tasted my first TDBA in Arkansas and had to special order from local dealer here from Tx--TOOK SIX WEEKS TO GET HERE. You need to do something about that.
-- Wallace/St. Louis     12/27/2006 11:14:41 PM
I first chose this brew based solely on the label. And, I was pleasantly surprised to discover my new favorite brew inside the bottle. I absolutely love the label and the beer, and I can't wait to see the new character!
-- Alice     1/1/2007 7:12:50 PM

I live in a small town Asheville, NC and never have been a beer drinker. A few friends told me to try a ale or lager, after ten minutes of questioning the store employees I decided to try Tilburg's ...one word AWESOME!!! Now I am a fan thanks.

Dear Sir/Madam, My name is Tibor Nagy and I live in Hungary. I would have a request to you: I have started to collect beer labels approximately 10 years ago and if it is possible, I would be grateful if you would send me two or three labels from those are in circulation by your company for the enlargement of my collection. If there is any label taken out of circulation, I would like some of those as well. I am looking forward to hearing from you as soon as possible. Yours sincerely, Tibor Nagy My e-mail address: Tibor3.Nagy@lighting.ge.com My address: 10. Gyorossy-kert street Hajduboszormeny Hungary 4220
-- Tibor Nagy     7/24/2007 3:46:00 PM
Excellent ale with fine balance between caramel malt sweetness and lively hops crispness. Fruity notes are complex and continue through a fine finish. Keep it up!
-- Joseph C. Murray-Jacksonville, FL USA     8/26/2007 6:37:25 AM
Saw Bosch's art work in my local beer cooler, saw it was a brown ale (a favorite style of mine) and then saw it was Dutch. I was not disapointed when I tasted it eiher. A great brown ale. I was so inspired by the beer that I decided to watch Metallica's "Until it Sleeps" video, which was inspired by Bosch's work. Don't change the character!
-- Michael Andres     8/28/2007 8:27:34 PM
Not bad, not bad at all. Guy told me "if you like NewCastle, you'll love this stuff". Good taste. Wierd label. Keepu up the good work.
-- Joe     9/9/2007 4:50:48 AM
So I saw this beer in the store while trying to decide between Dogfish's Head and Brooklyn Brown... Well, in having gone out on a limb in trying this, I've gotta say that it turned out to be the best of both worlds. Bold in a way that approaches the Dogfish, but a mellowness that's also reminiscent of the Brooklyn - only slightly better. And yes, it was definitely the label and Dutch descendance that initially caught me. Keep it up!

Your Dutch Brown Ale is FANTASTIC – one of the best I have tasted! My brother recently turned me on to Tilburg DBA. He was nice enough to carry a case from Colorado, in his luggage, when flying out to visit me in Connecticut. I couldn’t get your beer in my hometown…That is, until today…I had my local beer shop special order it. I am sipping one as I write this. By the way – don’t change the character on the label. As you know, your character is from the rightmost panel of the Bosch painting ‘The Garden Of Earthly Delights’. This rightmost panel is referred to as ‘The Hell’ and the character that you’ve employed as your mascot is Satan himself. He is depicted as a bird sitting in a chair eating a man. I ask you – how do you compete with that? Any other character will be second-rate. Keep up the good work…

I had been eying this beer for several months and finally decided to give it a go. I am blown away by the taste and then I noticed the bottle up close.. wicked! New Castle is going to be taking a back seat while I explore this treat! As others have already spoken, when/where can we buy a T-shirt?? Paul Austin, TX

Enjoyed your beer in Little Rock, Arkansas at the Flying Saucer. I was fascinated by the label; it is disturbing. I was reminded of other painters who dipicted hellish scenes. Now I'm aquainted with Bosch. Thanks! I'm glad the label has some context. And the beer is good.

Sippin' a TDBA here in Little Rock while I'm browsing your site for the first time. Damn glad this fine ale is available here in the Rock!! Love the freaky art too! Keep up the good work! Cheers!

I love this beer. plane and simple. Being somewhat of a connesieure of sorts i like to try as many import beers as possible(a lot or american beers "just dont get it". often times it like beer flavored seltzer.)You guys have a new customer thanks. keep brewing

Fantastic - really smooth and not too carbonated. Brown ales are my fave and this ranks at the top.
-- Bev     2/15/2008 12:32:32 AM
This is unquestionably the greatest beer to grace the gentle touch of my lips; this beer is intellectually superior to all others beer, wine, liquor or any other; the simple fact that it is only 11.2 ounces is living proof this is my beer and this is my gun as well as this is for fighting and this is for fun.

this brown blows new castle out of the water

Love this stuff, smooth, brown, and little carbonation. Only issue... why can't I no longer find it in Kentucky?
-- Joe Drink     3/17/2008 7:12:12 AM
Just found Tilburgs and have now found my favorite brown ale.
-- Rick     3/24/2008 4:39:31 PM
Love it after first having it earlier this year. There must be a distribution problem though because the only place in town that I found it said they might not ever get it back because it changed distributors. We need Tilburg's in Birmingham, Alabama!

A friend of mine introduced me to this by calling it "candy for adults." She was right, great stuff!

Hands down, my favorite ale of the last few years. Such an easygoing personality, but very complex and delicious. I just wish I could find it more easily! And my girlfriend is now a fan, as well! Cheers!

No beer is ever ALWAYS the best...your food choice, your mood, and even the weather can drastically affect your opinion . But Tilburg's is always amazing, regardless of any other factor, it is the most consistently fantastic choice a person can make when choosing an ale!

Undeniably the experience of a good beer is enhanced by its presentation like a nice dinner with a dash of visually pleasing garnish. This brown's flavor is definitely noteworthy and as unusual as Bosch's art is, it clearly enhances the experience of this Unique Brew.
-- Sargent     2/14/2009 7:22:03 PM
best brown ale by far. just discovered last night.
-- zach, indy     2/15/2009 8:43:48 PM
from the reactions of the last three years: art, Dutch, and bier catches all eyes! Ferry and I like the science of blind taste tests; and, culture in a bottle--cool.
